The art is finally up!

Last weekend we finally hung the art (2 photos) we bought in Barcelona last summer and the antique dragon my dear friend Robb gave me as a present when he moved to India. Especially the dragon looks very cool above the 4 dark brown/black drawers. If anyone can guess where we bought those, you're just as guilty of bargains as we are ;-)

Pics of the loft.... finally!

The crib is done!

Finally we have moved into our new place. The last 2 weeks were pure madness with two consecutive moves, trying to fit all our stuff into the new apartment (we still have a few boxes that we will never find space for in the cupboards), buying new furnutire, and getting 70 meters of cable wired through the house. But we seem to be almost done now. Also, we seem to have found a dodgy internet connection for now that we can use, after being disconnected for over a week. Quite the horror I can tell you. Upset friends and family because of not responding to messages, not being able to do any finance, etc ;-) Here are some pictures I made yesterday. It's looking better than we had ever envisioned. I still feel like a tourist in my own lofty suite, but hope that will pass in the next few days! See you all soon for some homewarming champagne!

Just visuals this time!

Almost a week without posting any stories or pictures. It has been mad these last few days and more is still to come. Tomorrow they'll make a start with installing the showerwall and the day after the two glass sliding doors will be put in. That will be a nerve wrecking experience to manouvre those big ones into the house. Let's cross our fingers! In the meantime the bathroom is as good as finished and Nik has taken the photos today, so what you are seeing is as much as i have seen of it. I'll be at the premises again tomorrow. That's it for now, we gotta eat and sleep...

It's starting to look like something!

A week without blogging and the place has really come along. I was at Nyenrode for 2 days for an internet marketing strategy masterclass and while i was there, the kitchen has been delivered and made to fit. What a dark grey beauty it is! It could have easily resulted in another case of big ill-managed expectations, like we had with the floor (which now doesn't look that yellow anymore strangely enough...). We had no idea what the colour was going to look like seeing as how we picked out the colour through a little 2*2cm sample. But this time I was really gladly surprised. It looks terrific, even better than we had imagined.
This weekend was spent painting walls and covering the kitchen from top to bottom in plastic.... as if we were giving it to someone as a present for Sinterklaas ;-) All in all, we're making progress. Ooops, almost forgot. We did have some minor stress on saturday. Apparently the upstairs neighbours (could have been any one of them) had a flood because all of a sudden drops were coming off one of the beams above our brand new kitchen... yikes!!!! And at midnight, while we were still wrapping the kitchen and drinking Champagne from our wine fridge, our downstairs neighbours knocked on our door and asked us if we had installed something. Apparently our suction system that we installed does suck like a monster when it is on level 3. It was blowing into their appartment through their air system... Yikes again! So I guess we will have to be carefull with our powertools :-)
